Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Blink ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure experience when using our ephemeral file sharing service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and Android application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Files
When you share a file with Blink, it is encrypted on your device before upload, so we only ever receive encrypted ciphertext. We temporarily store this encrypted data on our servers to deliver your secure link. All files are automatically and permanently deleted when the timer expires (1 to 10 minutes, 5 minutes by default). We do not retain, backup, or archive any shared content beyond this period.
2.2 Device Information
Our Android app may use:
- Device type and model
- Operating system version
- App version
- A standard Android device identifier (see below)
- Anonymous crash / stability signals where available
2.3 Device identifier and daily transfer quota
Blink has no accounts. To keep sharing fair without making you sign up, supported versions of the Android app send a standard device identifier (Android ID) only to our quota service. We store a simple balance for that device: remaining MB for the day and how many rewarded ads were used today.
Why: if quota lived only on the phone, clearing app data or reinstalling could reset the daily limit. The device id lets us enforce the same fair limit anonymously. It is not a username, it is not linked to your name or email, and we do not use it to build a personal profile or track what you share (file contents stay end-to-end encrypted on your device).
2.4 Usage Data
We use limited technical data to run and protect the service, including:
- Daily transfer quota (server-enforced on supported app versions; older versions may still keep a local cache)
- App crash reports
- General, aggregated usage patterns
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely for:
- Providing the ephemeral file sharing service
- Enforcing daily transfer limits fairly without accounts
- Improving app performance and user experience
- Monitoring and preventing abuse of the service
- Displaying advertisements (Android app only)
4. Data Storage and Security
Your files are encrypted with AES-256 on your device before upload. Servers only ever store and transmit encrypted ciphertext, and cannot read the contents of what you share. The decryption key travels with your share link and never leaves your control.
Encrypted data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare R2) with automatic deletion when the timer expires (1 to 10 minutes, 5 minutes by default). Quota balances (device id → remaining MB) are stored separately in a small database used only for fair-use limits—not for reading your files.
No account creation is required. We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers to use Blink. The device identifier used for quota is an anonymous technical id, not a personal profile.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Advertising
Our Android app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements, including rewarded ads that grant additional transfer quota. Google may collect and use data as described in their Privacy Policy.
5.2 Cloud Services
We use Cloudflare for content delivery and storage. Cloudflare's privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.
6. Children's Privacy
Blink is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us immediately.
7. Your Rights
Blink does not create user accounts. Shared file ciphertext is automatically deleted when the timer expires. Quota records tied to an anonymous device id exist only to enforce daily limits. If you have questions or concerns about privacy, contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
